Meet Paul | Co-Host of Fitness For Consumption

Paul Juris is founder and president of Juris Partners, LLC, offering deep domain knowledge and experience in human movement science & technology, product innovation, program development, education & training, and business analytics to the fitness, health, and wellness industries.

Formerly the Director of Science and Performance at Brooklyn Boulders, he developed cutting-edge and innovative facilities & programs, and led the science and tech pursuits of the company by creating advanced data capture, metrics and analytics applications, delivering transformative experiences to fitness consumers.

Prior to joining BKB, Dr. Juris was the Executive Director of the Cybex Research Institute, and Chief Science Officer at Cybex International. In this capacity, he directed the company’s empirical scientific research efforts in human movement, biomechanics, metabolics, motor control, and general health and wellness.

Through Institute discoveries, the groundwork was laid for innovations in products, health & fitness solutions, and educational content and programs that continue to serve the greater health and fitness communities.

As a professor of Human Movement Studies at Hunter College and Teachers College, Columbia University, Dr. Juris established his academic foundation, which he translated into a succession of multidisciplinary achievements.

He served as clinical kinesiologist and research coordinator in the
Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, specializing in sports rehabilitation and human performance.

In connection with the PGA of America, he established the PGA Kinematics lab, offering technology-driven solutions to amateur and professional golfers.

At Equinox Fitness Clubs, he helped establish the world-renowned Equinox Fitness Training Institute, setting the highest standards of professional education and program development.

Paul is a frequent lecturer at medical, scientific, sports, and fitness conferences, and has authored peer-reviewed articles and chapters in medical and scientific textbooks.

Paul’s an avid yachtsman, a lifelong skier and exercises daily for health, wellness and fun. He lives with his wife, Lisa, a career marketing executive, in Amherst, Massachusetts. His children, Sam and Sydney, live and work in New York City.

Education

A pioneer in the development of human motor skill, Paul’s career spans thirty-five years. He earned his doctorate in Motor Learning from Teachers College, Columbia University, his master’s in Exercise Science from the University of  Massachusetts Amherst, and his bachelor’s in Human Movement Studies from Hunter College, CUNY.
